Virtual Summer Classes

For PJA students this summer
July 6 - August 7, 2020

We are so glad you are interested in signing up your child/children for virtual classes with PJA@Home. Class duration is based on the age group, topic, and lessons. Days and times may vary. Fees are based on the number of sessions and cannot be prorated. There are no refunds, except for extenuating circumstances. Classes will be taught virtually and participants will need access to a device and the internet. Devices available through the school as needed. Please contact us if you need a device. Before classes begin, teachers will be in touch with more information about materials needed, if any pick-up of materials at PJA will be needed, along with other details about the class.

Literacy/Social Emotional

Diversify Your Bookshelf
Entering Grades: K-1
Join Jenny twice a week to read and discuss books that feature kids that might have different experiences or perspectives than our own. Recognizing and advocating for all humans to be treated fairly with equal rights and opportunities in their community and the world helps create character within ourselves, even for the youngest readers.

Dungeons & Dragons for Beginners
Entering Grades: 4-7
Come slay Dragons! Learn how to create a character, work as a team, and practice epic storytelling. Come play with Dungeon Master Adrianne as she teaches you beginner rules and the ins and outs of Dungeons and Dragons!

Virtual Games & Hanging Out!
Entering Grades: 6-8
Looking for a virtual place to hang out this summer with your friends? Join Ms. Phillips for this fun summer class--jammed pack with awesome group games and activities! But wait...there's more! Not only will we PLAY, we'll DO! We'll work together to make our own collection of online games that Middle School students can play during the school year. You will also receive an activity kit with this class.

Cooking & Science

Lunch Around the World
Entering Grades: 4-8
Join Ms. Borax for a culinary journey around the world. This weekly live interactive cooking class is a fun and delicious way to learn about different people around the world and how they eat! We will prepare simple, easy, and fun vegetarian lunch time meals. Ingredients list will be sent out one week in advance. Adult supervision may be needed (depending on age and skill levels).

Baker's Club
Entering Grades: 4-8

Kibutz Galuot: Ingathering of the Exiles
Entering Grades: 6-8
This class has been canceled due to low enrollment.
Israel is a country that absorbs new immigrants from all over the world. This is what makes Israeli cuisine so diverse and full of flavors from all over the world. Get to know the different communities that live in Israel through the kitchen. Each week we will meet a new community and cook unique dishes.

The Science of Cooking

Watercoloring & Music
Entering Grades: K-2
Music can inspire the art you create! In this class, we will learn watercoloring techniques, listen to different kinds of music that evoke different moods, and create a painting community to share our ideas.

Mindfulness

Yoga Club
Entering Grades 4-8
Join Ms. Borax to move your body, explore your emotions, and calm your mind. Learn practical skills to manage everyday stress, anxiety, and difficult emotions. Practice yoga movements to become stronger and more flexible in your body. Play mindfulness games and enjoy guided meditations to unwind and reset, find your inner voice, and connect with other kids like you! Good for the body, mind, heart, and soul!
