Work for the World - Service Learning

Tikkun olam (repairing the world) is an age-old Jewish value that teaches responsibility for the world around us. Our students learn this principle and live it at PJA by participating in such activities as:

  • Curriculum-based service projects in the Lower School
  • Student-initiated service work in the Middle School
  • Support of life-long volunteering for our alumni
  • B'yachad, a program that partners Middle School students and Rose Schnitzer Manor residents for intergenerational education, activities, and friendship.

"PJA allows numerous opportunities to be a leader and “work for the world”, a skill that has allowed me to succeed in so many different and varied pursuits. The foundations of leadership that were created for me at PJA will continue to guide me through the rest of my life, and I am forever grateful for how PJA has allowed me to continue to flourish."
