Why I love working at PJA and MJCC!
This month is a big anniversary for me! I have worked at the MJCC and PJA for 20 years! These days most people don't stay at a job for that long, but for me, I love it. I've been thinking about why I love working here and three big points stand out.
1. It feels like a family!
As I look back on 20 years of working here, the biggest thing that stands out to me is the feeling of community. Over the years I've had some big life events. Every time, my co-workers have stepped in to cover necessary job duties and have let me experience these moments. When I was sick, 14 years ago, the MJCC and PJA helped me get through some tough times by being flexible and supporting me. During the pandemic, I felt appreciated. I also feel like I can walk around the MJCC and PJA and know most faces! Everyone greets eachother! I feel like Norm on Cheers!
2. I'm constantly learning something new!
Over the past 20 years, the marketing world has changed immensely! We've pivoted from printing out of house, to bringing printing in house. We've adapted through the pandemic to more digital media. We've learned how to take our own video. We've kept up with the changing landscape of social media. I love that I am always learning something new at MJCC and PJA. I appreciate being exposed to new ideas and perspectives and welcome conversations and professional development opportunities.
3. I'm making a difference
I love working in a place where I feel I'm making a positive impact on other people's lives. At MJCC we are a center, open to everyone, a hub for people to connect, get healthy, and find community. At PJA we educate young children and teach them to be mensches who are confident and ready to change the world.
In closing, I'd like to say thank you to MJCC and PJA for filling me with joy and valuing me as an employee, parent, member, and friend.
Sincerely,
Becky Ewer
