LA's Lasting Impact

Our 7th grade trip to Los Angeles was more than a travel experience. This journey was not only packed with meaningful content and a fast-paced itinerary, but it also asked a lot of our students emotionally and intellectually — and they rose to the occasion with heart, curiosity, and resilience.

Over several packed days, students engaged deeply with the mission of Tzedek America: “helping the hidden be seen and the voiceless be heard.”

From listening to formerly unhoused individuals, artists, activists, and community leaders, our students asked thoughtful questions, showed appreciation, and demonstrated true curiosity. Highlights included inspiring conversations with people like Meymuna from Flavors from Afar, artist-activist Hedy, the team at Classroom of Compassion, and many more. And of course, there was plenty of fun — from sitting in the stands at a Dodgers game to visiting Santa Monica Pier.

Here’s to our amazing 7th graders — may this trip be just one of many experiences that help shape them into compassionate, engaged citizens of the world
